Navaratri – Day 5 – Dedicated to Goddess Skandamātā

maa-skand-mata

सिंहासनगता नित्यं पद्माश्रितकरद्वया।
शुभदास्तु सदा देवी स्कन्दमाता यशस्विनी॥

siṁhāsanagatā nityaṁ padmāśritakaradvayā |
śubhadāstu sadā devī skandamātā yaśasvinī ||

siṁhāsanagatā – who is travelling, seated on the lion, nityaṁ – always,  padmāśritakaradvayā – holding the lotus flower in both hands, śubhadāstu – be auspicious, sadā – always, devī  – goddess, skandamātā – the mother of Skanda, yaśasvinī – glorious

May the glorious mother of Skanda, who always travels on the back of a lion, adorning both hands with the lotus flower, be eternally auspicious upon me.
